WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Material Developer II to join our Jordan Footwear Material Development team. This role will support the creation of leather, synthetics, and textiles that are appropriate for the various Fields of Play within Jordan Footwear Product based on physical properties, price, end use, sourcing and aesthetics. This opportunity also involves utilzing material knowledge, product construction and manufacturing experience to anticipate potential issues, facilitate problem solving, and meet deadlines. The candidate needs to have attention to detail, tolerance for ambiguity, organizational skills and able to prioritize their work accordingly.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

On a weekly basis, you will be working with your team against seasonal briefs to provide material excellence based on consumer insights. Key tasks involve vendor communication, system data entry, trouble shooting material applications, driving adherence to the seasonal calendar, and collaboration with other functional teammates.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will be responsible for material development within the assigned product segment and report directly to the Material Development Director. In this role, you will partner with Material Design and collaborate with suppliers to develop seasonal material palettes. You will also work with the product creation team and other functions to ensure materials are commercialized through the lens of cost, sourcing, performance and sustainability.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Footwear, Apparel, Textiles, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education, experience, and training
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a product creation role or similar
  • Basic understanding of footwear material types, applications, physical properties and test methods
  • Able to anticipate needs, solve problems, perform research and analyze results 
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities 
  • Able to be influence stakeholders
  • Able to be self-motivated and work in a team environment 
  • Understanding of manufacturing realities and constraints preferred
  • Experience with vendor negotiation, materials or related development projects is preferred 
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
