Joseph C. Lu Engineering, PC is Hiring a Natural Resources Technician Near Buffalo, NY

Position: Natural Resources Environmental Technician

Lu Engineers is a full-service transportation, civil and environmental engineering firm, headquartered in Rochester, NY. We are seeking an environmental scientist to join our team to assist the Environmental Group as a Natural Resources technician. Candidates must possess a B. S. degree in Environmental studies or similar, and recent graduates are welcome to apply. Ideally, the successful candidate would also have wetland delineation field experience (including plant identification), and Erosion and Sediment Control Training.

Candidates with 0 – 8 years of experience in the field of Natural Resources working in the field of wetland delineation and general environmental policy review. Review for endangered species, historic resources, surface water and other environmental resources typical to NY State transportation projects (i.e. FHWA, NYSDOT, Counties, and Villages & Towns).

Desired Technical Skills Include:

Wetland Delineation: utilizing US Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual (1987) and Northeast/Northcentral Regional Supplement.

Plant identification and familiarity with soil and wetland hydrology indicator identification.

NEPA and SEQRA Environmental Review Policy (conducting environmental review for transportation or other projects)

Familiarity with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Erosion and Sediment Control practices and routine inspection.

Ability to conduct field work in all weather conditions and travel to project sites

Technical writing skills

Desired Computer Experience Includes:

Geographic Information System (GIS) (ArcGIS, ArcMap)

AutoCAD

Geographic Positioning System (GPS)

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc)
