Joseph J. Albanese is seeking a Public Works Project Manager or Sr. Project Manager to join our Project Management team in Santa Cruz, CA. As a member of the Project Management department, this individual will report directly to the jobsite. The Monterey Bay Sanctuary Trail project spans from Wilder Ranch State Park, Santa Cruz, to Davenport, CA. The primary function of this role is to plan, direct, and manage civil work with a focus on grading, paving, and site concrete work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

• Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.

• Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
• Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
• Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
• Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and other construction projects.
• Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
• Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.
• Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
• Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as electrical, underground and other subcontractor/suppliers.
• Ensure timely processing of contract modifications, close out and collections required.
• Performs other duties as required or directed.

QUALIFICATONS: 

• 7-10 years of prime contractor/government work/public works knowledge and experience; grading, paving, and site concrete experience preferred.
• Degree in Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, HCSS, and scheduling software
• Ability to establish and maintain client relations
• Proven problem-solving abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong work ethic, team player, ability to work with minimal supervision
• Valid CA driver license and ability to drive on behalf of the company

OTHER:

• Location – Santa Cruz County (Hwy 1)
• General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, bending.
• Must be able to travel to project sites.
• Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
