Description

Position Summary:

This excellent position facilitates adoptions daily by providing information to potential adopters and matching them with an available dog or cat. The Mobile Adoption Event Coordinator will coordinate and secure high-visibility mobile adoption outreach events. They work to increase Joybound’s participation in local events and festivals, including various mobile adoption events while building rewarding partnerships with local businesses.

Job Description:

· Community Outreach:

o Identify, secure, and develop outreach adoption sites at high-traffic business and community locations, including local festivals and events. Promote and evaluate the success of each site and schedule to maximize variety, exposure, adoptions, and donations and help drive future traffic to the Joybound campus.

o Coordinate logistics and ensure adoption exposure for all offsite mobile events to create rewarding partnerships with local businesses. Serve as the single point of contact and coordinate with appropriate staff and volunteer team members.

o Participate in adoption events, community outreach programs, and educational activities highlighting our dogs and cats.

o Bring postcards to events to highlight our long-stay adoptable dogs and cats.

o Promote Joybound’s adoptable animals and programs within the animal welfare community both onsite and offsite by sharing photos of mobile travelers with event hosts.

o Maintain a well-organized and professional table while at mobile events.

· Collaboration:

o Work closely with other staff members, including veterinarians, trainers, animal care technicians, and volunteers, to ensure the well-being of animals and the success of the adoption program.

o Work with adoption and foster team members to identify the best choice of mobile travelers to ensure successful adoptions at the mobile adoption event.

o Help train, schedule, and supervise volunteers and staff members to enable them to assist with mobile adoption events.

o Always treat people and animals respectfully, contribute to effective teamwork, promote staff cooperation, and foster public relations beneficial to Joybound.

o Thrive in and enjoy a fast-paced environment.

o Be flexible and supportive of team members and maintain a positive work ethic.

o Attend meetings regarding mobile adoption events.

· Customer Interaction:

o Assist potential adopters in understanding the adoption process.

o Educate prospective adopters about the responsibilities of pet ownership. Provide superior customer service by creating positive interactions with potential adopters.

o Provide information on specific animals available for adoption, including their history, behavior, and medical status.

o Facilitate cat and dog adoptions both onsite and offsite.

· Matchmaking:

o Assess the needs and lifestyles of potential adopters to make suitable recommendations for compatible animals.

o Facilitate mobile meet-and-greet sessions between potential adopters and our shelter guests to ensure a good match. Support the adoption team onsite with adoptions when needed.

o Understand the personalities of all available shelter guests.

· Animal Care and Handling:

o Help ensure the well-being of animals in both facilities, including walking and sometimes cleaning condos.

o Monitor and report any signs of illness or behavioral observations using various techniques, including visual and audible.

o Responsible for knowing and showing all shelter guests to potential adopters.

o Will provide animal care to the cats and kittens at Kitty Town.

o Follow established procedures governing safe work practices to perform duties that ensure one's safety and that of others.

o Workplace provides constant exposure to animals and potential allergens.

· Record Keeping:

o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all adoptions, including adoption agreements, medical records, and follow-up information.

o Track data and maintain reports of all mobile events on a spreadsheet.

o Maintain confidentiality of all information shared.

o Detail-oriented tasks with the ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.

o Proficiency with Microsoft Office and learning new programs is required. Internet savvy.

o Must be able to sit at a computer and stand for long periods of time.

· Boutique:

o Process adoption paperwork and collect fees using Shopify in our retail store and remotely when needed. Assist with keeping our small onsite store and storeroom presentable at all times.

o Encourage Joybound contributions and business wholeheartedly.

· Other:

o Perform other related duties as assigned.

o Maintain cleanliness of the adoption vehicle by utilizing staff and volunteers.

o Pre-employment background screening is required.

o Demonstrate maturity, good judgment, and professional personal appearance.

o Comfortable and skilled in working with diverse staff, volunteers, and community.

o Tetanus and rabies inoculations are required or must be waived.

o Assess medical and behavior changes in animals using various techniques including, but visually and audibly.

o Complete Joybound training to drive Joybound vehicles, including a 26-foot adoption vehicle. Drive Joybound vehicles as assigned by supervisor. Follow safe driving practices and obey all traffic laws.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

· Education: A high school diploma is typically required, but a background in animal science, biology, or a related field is a plus.

· Experience and Knowledge: Two years of experience in animal care and animal handling is preferred, and understanding animal behavior is a plus. Two years of customer service and retail sales skills are required. Knowledge of various dog and cat breeds and general care practices is needed.

· Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with members of the public, potential adopters, and team members effectively.

· Compassion: A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare. Affection for animals, a concern for their well-being, and the ability to accommodate animals in the workplace are also required.

· Problem-solving: Able to handle challenging situations, such as matching animals with appropriate adopters. Must be able to work well under pressure. Must work well independently and as a team in a group setting. The ability to remain flexible and calm is important. Assist with data tracking and analysis.

· Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage paperwork, schedules, and events.

· Physical Stamina: Able to handle and care for animals, including walking, lifting animals to 50 pounds, and cleaning up after them. Humanely restrain animals when necessary. Walk dogs up to 120 pounds in a variety of weather conditions. Able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach above and below shoulder level, grasp and turn objects, and walk frequently and repeatedly throughout each shift. Push/pull moderately heavy objects up to 40 pounds.

· Driving: A Driver’s License and the ability to drive large vehicles to transport animals on and off-site is required. Must become an approved driver. Must not have more than two at-fault incidents in a three year period, no major at fault violations in the last 10 years, and must be insured.

The Mobile Adoption Event Coordinator is crucial in creating and growing successful and long-lasting relationships with our event hosts and effectively creating matches between animals and their adoptive families.

Hours: Full-time position of 40 hours per week. Daily reporting hours and days of the week may vary according to the department's needs. Weekend and evening work will be required; must be available during Joybound’s adoption days/hours. Location is expanding to include Kitty Town in Concord.
