POSITION TITLE: Special Education Teacher (Language Based Program)

QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification in Special Education

REPORTS TO: Special Education Director, Principal and/or other Supervisor

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide instruction to students in both, the Special Education Setting and the General Education setting.
2. Must possess a strong background in design and implementation of elementary curriculum, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior management programs, such as ABA.
3. Experience with being part of the instructional support team, including classroom teachers, auxiliary special education support service providers, BCBA's, etc.
4. Experience working with a team of Special Education and General Education professionals and paraprofessionals.
5. Experience with IEP drafting and progress monitoring through the collection of data across the academic year.
6. Experience with assessment and eligibility determination
7. Demonstrated results-oriented instruction utilizing various reading, math, and written language programs.
8. Demonstrated relationship building and communication skills with parents and other community liaisons.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
2. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
4. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
5. Serve on committees as assigned.
6. Remain current on instructional practices in education, (e.g. instructional technology)
