The Global Engagement team, which is a core part of Global Government Relations, is seeking a Vice President to inform and facilitate the implementation of the Firm's global strategy in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, with a particular focus on U.S. foreign policy and its impacts. The position will report to the Director of Global Engagement and play a significant role in global APAC and China policy tracking, analysis, and development. The Global Engagement Vice President will be a highly regarded expert who will leverage subject matter expertise, external networks and contacts, and data and resources from across the Global Government Relations department and the firm as a whole to support an enterprise-wide strategy for the APAC region. The Vice President will be expected to anticipate policy-related challenges and help drive mitigation approaches. The ideal candidate will be based in Washington, DC.Job Responsibilities Monitor key political and economic events globally - and in particular, U.S. policy pertaining to China/Hong Kong and key APAC markets - and identify potential trouble spots and emerging trends; assimilate their impact and communicate their importance in a clear, concise, and timely manner to relevant internal audiences. Assist the Head of Global Engagement and International Government Relations and other firm leaders in developing policy positions; support advocacy strategies on proposed U.S. policies and regulation pertaining to APAC and China in collaboration with government relations colleagues and Lines of Business; and engage and coordinate with trade associations, and other stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. Draft briefing papers and analysis and conduct briefings for senior management on key international and APAC regional policy developments and trends. Develop and manage events to highlight key issues pertaining to APAC and China for various internal audiences. Convene and coordinate networks of external partners, including think tanks and consultants, on issues of shared importance to raise the profile of the team's work and advance advocacy and engagement effortsRequired qualifications, capabilities, and skills 7 years of experience in APAC and China issues, including some experience in policy development and/or analysis. Deep base of contacts with key U.S. and other government and international institution officials.Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze geopolitical and economic developments globally. Experience managing information flows from associations, consultants, and official channels. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written communication and briefing skills. Organized and focused, with sharp attention to detail and ability to work independently. Highest level of integrity and professionalism. Excellent judgment.
