The Global Sales Markets & Research Black Advocacy Program (BAP) is looking to add a passionate associate to its team. You will report directly into the Global Head of the BAP and support all of the program’s initiatives. Formally launched in 2020, the BAP aims to improve Black representation, retention and culture in the Market’s businesses globally. The BAP partners closely with J.P.Morgan’s HR and DE&I teams, but sits within Global Sales, Markets & Research.

As an Associate in the Global Sales Markets & Research Black Advocacy Program, you will have an opportunity to work closely with senior leadership in order to advance representation, retain talent, and raise cultural awareness throughout the organization. You will support, build and strengthen the Black community through events, senior engagement and career management. It involves engagement with both senior leadership and Black employees in markets. The BAP associate role is a unique and incredibly entrepreneurial opportunity to develop and shape a business plan aimed at advancing and progressing diversity within J.P.Morgan’s global markets businesses.

Job Responsibilities

  • Representation
    • Campus recruiting – The Black Advocacy Program runs an Intern Advocacy Program, which supports all Black interns through the recruiting process globally by pairing them with advocates and equipping them with training and resources. The BAP associate will take a lead on the internship program, supporting both the sophomore and junior internships programs. The program strives to support interns and strengthen conversion and acceptance rates
    • Experienced candidates – The BAP associate will engage with external experienced talent, making connections to hiring managers within Markets, keeping candidates warm and seeking feedback where necessary. The BAP will collectively work to get more diverse candidates in front of hiring managers. In addition, the BAP plans to host a number of events with external talent, and the associate will be heavily involved in the planning and execution of these events
    • The BAP is an ever evolving program and the associate role will be creative and entrepreneurial, requiring idea generation and thought around how we continue to attract and convert talent. Through this role the BAP associate will structurally drive change and accountability
  • Retention
    • The BAP launched a formal program pairing every Black employee in Markets globally with a senior advocate in 2021. We continue to induct new joiners into this program several times a year. The BAP associate will be tasked with pairing these new joiners with advocates, welcoming them into the program, and ensuring they are equipped and prepared to leverage their advocate
    • We host check-ins and fireside conversations for the program participants several times a year, and the BAP associate will be in charge of planning and arranging these updates
    • Senior engagement – The BAP associate will help devise a plan for senior leaders to engage with Black talent throughout the course of the year. This includes lunches, dinners, events, and focus group discussions
    • Community building - The BAP associate will drive connectivity across the Black community and the broader BAP. This includes events during Black History Month, and events/ connectivity across certain cohorts: Black Women in Markets, Black A&A’s, and Black VPs.
    • Development, training and career management – The BAP associate will have the opportunity to equip the community with tools for development and advancement. This will be particularly important for interns and junior talent as we look at ways to set new joiners up for success. In addition, the BAP associate will be responsible for piloting a mobility strategy within the program including global mobility champions and senior stakeholders
    • Talent reviews & business updates – The BAP associate will plan and organize structured engagement across markets’ management teams and ensure prepared engagement in HR led talent review sessions
    • Data analysis – It will be important to track and analyze the success and performance of our strategies and efforts, which will involve data/ regression analysis and strategy tweaking
  • Culture
    • The BAP associate will be responsible for engaging directly with the junior community and addressing concerns around junior support, training and development. The BAP associate will be tasked with creating and devising a cohesive new joiner plan
    • There will also be the opportunity to train and develop our managers, particularly those who are less experienced. By raising broad awareness the program will continue to set diverse employees up for success
    • The BAP associate will facilitate the roll out of broader scenario based culture training later this fall
    • Partnership with our talent teams, Wellness teams and Advancing Black Pathways will be key in driving larger culture change
    • The BAP associate will support BAP framework expansion to other parts of the business and other underrepresented groups
