This senior role reports to the Chief Operating Officer for CCB Risk and is responsible for leading the Credit Risk Quality Assurance (CRQA) team. The group provides continuous monthly monitoring of underwriting quality (systemic and judgmental decisions) in the Consume/Business Card, Auto and Business Banking portfolios. Additionally, the group monitors collector effectiveness in Card and Auto Collections. As the leader of this independent 'second line of defense' function you will continually work with senior business owners and credit risk professionals to assess, monitor, report and mitigate credit risk. You will also frequently interface with both internal and external auditors. Job Responsibilities Be the thought leader for the CRQA group providing strategic direction and continually challenging the status quo. Work with the leadership team to ensure adequate resources are devoted to impactful monthly targeted reviews that identify risk on the margins. Leverage your judgmental underwriting skills (consumer and business lending) and collections knowledge to continually guide the CRQA management team and associates. This requires reviewing individual credit and collections decisions on a daily basis. Develop strong working relationships with leaders in both Risk and the Business. Demonstrate the ability to appropriately deliver difficult feedback to these leaders and ensure the timely remediation of any identified issues. The CRQA group is frequently either directly or indirectly the focus of internal/external audits. Ensure the team is fully prepared for these audits to achieve favorable results. Continually evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of existing controls within CRQA and provide direction to remediate, as appropriate.Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Bachelor's degree 20 years of consumer lending experience 5 years of business lending experience 5 years of collections experience 10 years management experience Proven ability to work in a matrixes environment, with the skills to deliver difficult feedback to senior leaders and secure their cooperation to drive change in a timely manner Demonstrated ability to build on-going partnerships with key stakeholders Confident presenter to both senior leaders and Risk Committees Experience interacting with external regulators Strong organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver resultsPreferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills MBA or a master's degree in related discipline Prior experience in a quality assurance function that judgmentally evaluates credit quality and collections effectiveness Commercial lending experience
