Johnson Service Group is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level II Desktop Support Technician to join our team in a full-time capacity.


This pivotal role is based in our HQ in Westmont, IL, where the selected candidate will be responsible for providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. We are looking for a dedicated professional who excels in problem-solving, has a deep understanding of desktop systems, and can deliver exceptional support to our staff.


You will be working with:

  • Laptops, Tablets, and Nextiva/Polycom phone system
  • Windows operating systems and related tools
  • Copiers and printers
  • Microsoft Office (365) applications
  • Adobe, DocuSign, Bullhorn & etc.
  • Server hardware, Network hardware, Internet Firewalls and VPN


Desktop Support Technician Responsibilities:

  • Helpdesk support in the local office (1st and 2nd level support)
  • Work with helpdesk ticketing system
  • LAN, WAN, VPN and Firewall support (Level I & II)
  • Maintains hosted application and operating system software
  • Maintains hosted Nextiva phones
  • Diagnoses/troubleshoots/installs/repairs all software, hardware (laptops/Printers) and components.
  • Maintains Laptops and peripherals in good working order
  • After-hours on-call availability on a rotational basis with other staff
  • Manage Active Directory
  • Asset Management (Hardware & Software)
  • Manages Printers across all the offices
  • Manage office 365 tenant, JSG Intranet site and MS teams.
  • Troubleshoots clients in order to optimize performance
  • Provides support to and train helpdesk team members and users
  • Backup monitoring, Patch application, and security updates on the servers and laptops
  • Prepare training and support documents
  • Build strong interrelationships with other departments by providing support for their needs and pre-empting issues before they arise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Desktop Support Technician Qualifications:

  • College degree, technical training, or equivalent work experience
  • A or CCNA certification a plus but not required
  • Microsoft and VMware certification is a plus
  • Minimum 3 years IT Service Desk and Call Centre experience required
  • Experience or general knowledge with servers
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as required for the role.
  • Excellent communication skills and telephone manner and Excellent organizational skills
  • Understands issues involved in administering and maintaining corporate LAN infrastructure, including network cabling, testing network connectivity, and desktop internet applications, etc.
  • Understands issues involved in administering and maintaining corporate WAN infrastructure, Firewall technologies, WAN, Internet routing & CISCO VPN etc.
  • Understands Voice over IP systems (Cloud telephony) – Nextiva
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, including Windows 2019
  • Working knowledge of virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere
