DescriptionTo support our strategic expansion, we are seeking an experienced GIS Specialist who will be responsible for project setup, collaboration, design, and execution of engineering projects utilizing ArcGIS products.
This position requires a self-driven, motivated individual who is willing to collaborate and work within a team atmosphere. This role will provide key contributions to our OSP Engineering Services team by generating and maintaining GIS mapping databases for our telecommunications clients, upholding standards by adhering to client specifications, and effectively communicating with other members of our OSP Engineering team and/or clients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Generate, analyze, modify, update, and maintain spatial data for the organization at all locations.
  • Responsible for performing skilled digital mapping involving the preparation and maintenance of digital maps and providing Geographic Information System (GIS) support.
  • Communicate with project managers and field personnel to produce accurate and effective report deliverables in accordance with deadlines.
  • Work cooperatively with staff and other resources to develop map content.
  • Exchange content ideas for new maps and provide critiques to peers. Promote a team-based approach to map-making.
  • Provide mapping, reports, analysis, data, products, database development, and Geographic Information System GIS data organization.
  • Updating and maintaining computer-generated data, mapping systems, and a project database on a regular basis to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of information.
  • Automation of GIS processes experience is a plus
  • Incorporate electronic information from databases, mapping systems, and telemetry systems into working documents, maps, and control systems
  • Identify publicly available datasets at the municipal, county, state, and federal level.
  • Stay informed and trained on the latest technologies for interactive map and graphics development.
  • Trains other employees as needed; maintains knowledge and skills on current ESRI products and their relationship to the mapping program.
  • Continuous improvement of job-related tasks and processes, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Degree in GIS, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience with ArcGIS.
  • Experience in the Telecommunications industry is a plus.
  • Hard-working and self-driven.
  • Collaborative teamwork experience.
  • Interest or experience in other tools and technologies.
  • Able to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Written and oral communication skills (including presentations), as well as listening and interpretation skills.
