JSI is currently recruiting for a Task Order Director for the anticipated Task Order under the USAID-funded Next-Generation Global Health Supply Chain and Pharmaceutical Management Comprehensive Technical Assistance Award.
The purpose of this activity is to provide technical assistance to strengthen supply chain and pharmaceutical systems to ensure sustainable access to and appropriate use of safe, effective, quality-assured, affordable health commodities. This position is contingent upon an award from USAID.
The Task Order Director is responsible for the overall strategic, technical, and managerial oversight, project quality and team leadership. The Task Order Director will be the official representative of JSI for this program. As such, they will build and maintain excellent communications and professional relationships between all relevant parties including the government counterparts, USAID and other partners. The Task Order Director will facilitate partnership management in order to meet the needs of the project in a coordinated and efficient manner utilizing all lessons learned throughout NextGen CompTA.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership, management and strategic direction towards the achievement of project goals, objectives, and targets;
  • Oversee program implementation, providing the strategic direction, technical vision, and approach;
  • Foster a spirit of collaboration between USAID, country offices, and all stakeholders to achieve project results;
  • Represent the project to USAID and to the MOH and ensure that the project activities are meeting client and stakeholder expectations and that project results are proactively disseminated, and learnings are shared and incorporated to continuously improve;
  • Serve as thought leader to all stakeholders within and outside of NextGen CompTA;
  • Ensure compliance with the terms of the award and USAID operational policies and regulations;
  • Present project results and findings to national and international stakeholders;
  • Lead project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications;
  • Ensure systems are in place to mitigate risk of fraud, waste and abuse;
  • Support the development, implementation, management, and monitoring of buy-in activities;
  • Ensure that the Task Order is collaborating and communicating with other CompTA task orders, the Control Tower, and other projects in the NextGen suite to establish alignment and shared learning; and
  • Oversee the production and timely submission of project reports to USAID.
Qualifications
  • Master or advanced degree in public health, supply chain management, pharmaceutical management, institutional development, business management, finance, or related field or minimum of 15 years in related professional experience;
  • Minimum 12 years of experience managing USAID or other donor funded projects in developing countries. Preference will be given to candidates with considerable working experience in senior-level management positions and experience leading large and complex supply chain management, pharmaceutical management, and related technical assistance projects in low and middle income countries and for USAID;
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including written and spoken English fluency (native or equivalent);
  • Demonstrated success at managing a team to implement complex, large scale USAID projects with multiple funders;
  • Demonstrated success developing and implementing project work plans and managing performance against objectives and timelines;
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with a globally dispersed team;
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high performing teams;
  • Excellent negotiation skills with demonstrated capacity for negotiating with senior government officials or executives;
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively present project results and accomplishments to national and international stakeholders, donors, and in-country counterparts;
  • Ability to travel 15-20%;
  • Fluency is French is strongly preferred; and
  • Working knowledge of and/or experience with USG-funded program management, policies, regulations, and procedures is required.
