Judge Direct Placement is Hiring an EHS Manager Near Chicago, IL

We are working with a large food manufacturer in Chicago seeking an EHS Manager to join their team in one of their largest facilities. This person will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a safe workplace in the manufacturing environment. This role will involve conducting risk assessments, leading safety training initiatives, and driving continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the company’s compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Stay updated with new and emerging regulations and adjust company policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Prepare and submit required EHS reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for employees at all levels.
  • Promote a culture of safety through awareness campaigns and proactive engagement with staff.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Implement measures to control risks and monitor the effectiveness of these controls.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee waste management, pollution control, and other environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Monitor and report on the company’s environmental performance, and work towards continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement health management programs, including ergonomic assessments, health screenings, and wellness programs.
  • Coordinate with occupational health professionals to manage employee health issues.
  • Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work with internal and external auditors during inspections and follow up on audit findings.
  • Manage and investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
  • Maintain records of incidents and track trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS performance.
  • Stay current with best practices and industry standards in EHS management.
  • Supervise and mentor EHS staff, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of the manufacturing process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH, or similar) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence change.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS management software.
