Description: Our client is currently seeking a Data Steward (MMK, SMT, NJ, RTP, WLK, COV, GO)
Role: Data steward
Location: Boston, MA / Smithfield, RI / Merrimack, NH / Jersey City, NJ / Westlake, TX, and Covington, KY
Duration: 6 Month, Contract
Hybrid - (5 days onsite one week per month, until September; starting in September, will go to 2 weeks)
Must have 5 years data steward experience in financial services.

With the support of senior leadership, we have added new full-time dedicated data stewardship roles covering specific data domains. As a dedicated data steward, you be involved with teams across the domain such as Customer, Account, Transactions, etc. and act a single point of control helping to drive data inventory, data quality and modernization efforts.
Required Skills
1. Experience as a data steward - have worked in this capacity for several years and understand the key attributes of role
2. Financial services experience and acumen - ideally at a large financial services firm, such as a broker dealer, mutual fund co, insurance co, or bank
3. Familiar with data governance tools, ideally Collibra & Alation, or other tools such as Informatica
4.Data Analysis and Querying skills
What are the NICE to have skills ?
Nice to have would be around the governance tools we use here including Collibra primarily. If someone has experience and financial acumen but is familiar with other tools, we could work with them.
Data Steward
We are currently sourcing for a Data Steward to work in one of our corporate offices including Boston, Smithfield, RI, Merrimack, NH, Jersey City, Westlake, TX, and Covington, KY!
The Role
Do you have many years of experience working with data within a large financial services firm? Are you a curious self-starter who loves data and likes to tackle big challenges? If so, there is an amazing opportunity to bring your skills and help build a world class data program as a data steward!! As a dedicated data steward, you be involved with teams across the domain such as Customer, Account, Transactions, etc. and act a single point of control helping to drive data inventory, data quality and modernization efforts.
Ensure data is classified and the metadata is enriched. Specifically, codes are applied to each data element such as for privacy laws which are required to be discoverable, and the classification process speeds up our ability to find data items with a higher degree of accuracy when reporting back to either industry or state regulatory agencies.
Ensure high quality data at the stage of consumption. Work with data quality leads to develop specific data quality standards and rules. Implement utilization of standards from data library. Monitor domain for quality issues, disposition and/or resolve issues submitted via Data Issues intake form, develop and implement improvements where data is problematic at the source, coordinate metrics, and report of domain data in coordination with the Data Quality Lead.
Support and enable data modernization through mapping data from legacy systems to Nextgen platforms to ensure elements are moving properly and completely. It also includes being able to provide data lineage and tracing of data movements within the legacy systems which is critical when figuring out paths of data transformation from legacy to modernized data sources.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Experience working in the role of a data steward for minimum of 3 years, ideally for a medium to large financial services organization.
Hands on experience with data governance / catalog tools such as Collibra, Alation or Informatica and other lineage or data quality tools would be a nice to have.
Skills: Data analysis and query capabilities, highly effective communicator, able to work with teams, across large organization, be a change agent, able to drive and demonstrate progress.
