The hourly equivalent for this position is $25.17 - $39.05. 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans. OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job! In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD the first two steps of the salary range. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase. Position Highlights The Washington County Circuit Court in Hillsboro, Oregon, is hiring a Judicial Assistant for the Honorable Hafez Daraee (Court Operations Specialist) to join our Criminal Department at the Washington County Law Enforcement Center. This position may also be part of the general trial rotation at the Washington County Courthouse. In this role, you will provide administrative support to the judge and court staff in a high-volume courtroom setting. You will prepare arraignment orders, show-cause affidavits, and paperwork for the in-custody and out-of-custody arraignment dockets. In entering complex data, you will complete court forms and courtroom hearing minutes, assign court dates, issue warrants, scan documents that are generated in court, and provide service copies of charging documents to defendants and attorneys. You will also host and monitor in-person and remote hearings. Additionally, you will assist the judge with correspondence and handle business for the judge’s office by phone, email, and in person. Lastly, you will provide customer service by assisting with incoming telephone calls and inquiries related to criminal matters and coordinating with the District Attorney, Sheriff’s Office, and criminal court administration to keep dockets on schedule. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. Minimum Qualifications (These must be evident in your resume or work history.) The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent. AND Four (4) years of responsible administrative experience in a moderately complex office or business setting demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this position OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. Special Qualifications (These must be verifiable.) None. Requested Skills and Attributes (These must be addressed in your cover letter.) Experience providing administrative support that included using a computer to manage information, meet strict deadlines, and maintain accuracy. Experience demonstrating tact and diplomacy when providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances. Experience explaining processes, procedures, or policies. Experience and skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness. Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information. Experience communicating in Spanish is preferred but not required. Working Conditions This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek. Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required. This is a fast-paced office environment, and the person in this position must be productive, accurate, and able to prioritize and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds. Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma. Long periods of sitting or standing at a computer may be required. Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
