PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Child Nutrition Operations Supervisor, under the supervision of the Director of Child Nutrition, directs food service staff in all areas of business operations and training for assigned sites.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Certification Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form
  • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • Must have intermediate computer skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Experience

  • Minimum five years of experience in food service management

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Ensures managers performance with compliance with federal and state law, board policy in food service area, Texas Department of Agriculture guidelines and regulations.

  • Conducts regular inspections of assigned food service facilities to ensure all JISD standards for sanitation and safety are met
  • Ensures that proper levels of equipment and inventory are maintained at assigned food service facilities
  • Demonstrates ability to work with others in a positive, productive manner
  • Is active in professional organizations, which enhance the growth of the individual and supports the district’s mission
  • Conducts oneself in a professional and ethical manner
  • Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
  • Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
  • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
  • Ability to adapt to change with little to no disruption in other areas
  • Work cooperatively with department staff to resolve issues.
  • Assist in ensuring that measures are in place for cost control and efficient systems to adhere to budget.

Equipment Used:

  • Office equipment – personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
  • Communication equipment – radio communication equipment, cellular telephone
  • Video monitoring equipment

  • Frequent: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs and/or ramps, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity, distinguishing colors, driving, traveling.
  • Occasional: Lifting, moderate, 15-44 pounds; carrying, moderate, 15-44 pounds

Environmental Factors

  • Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration
  • Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces, work alone, work prolonged or irregular hours.
