Summer Bridge Graduation Coach DescriptionThe Summer Bridge Graduation Coach will work up to 20 hours over the five days of the Bridge Program August 5-9 to connect with and support incoming 9th grade students participating in the Bridge Program. Additionally, the Graduation Coach will be invited to participate in up to 8 hours of Bridge Program training prior to August 5th. The Graduation Coach will focus on supporting student progress towards graduation, high school completion, college and career pathway planning and improving the graduation rate of all high school students in the district. The Graduation Coach will work with students, staff, parents and guardians, providing assistance to high school students, individually and in groups, who are at risk of not graduating. This work will include looking at data to identify students or subgroups with the potential of not graduating high school. The position will be responsible for identifying and resolving barriers to graduation and facilitating postsecondary planning for high school students. The Graduation Coach will work collaboratively with the high school counseling department and will report to the principal or designee. This position is funded with Student Investment Account and High School Success dollars. Qualifications Required
Strong desire and passion for ensuring positive educational outcomes for ALL students;
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with
colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and patrons;
Ability to track student progress and to ensure students receive the necessary supports
to meet all academic benchmarks and graduation requirements;
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the developing school-wide supports and
interventions;
Work experience or education related to working with at-risk youth, ie: juvenile justice,
social work, education or related field;
Demonstrated understanding and judgment regarding student safety;
Responsibility to know, understand, and adhere to school rules and District policy;
Qualifications Desired
Ability to evaluate the educational strengths and needs of students;
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current first aid/CPR card;
Willingness to immerse in the culture and traditions of JCHS and be willing to coach and/or
advise clubs;
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred;
