A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL STATEMENTOF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Considerable knowledge of risk factors, protective factors and assessing suicidality among adults.
• Considerable knowledge of personality development, psychopathology, family, group, and community dynamics and systems theory.
• Strong interpersonal and team building skills are a priority.
• Knowledge of community resources and various prevention techniques.
• Ability to intervene in crisis situations.
• Ability to establish rapport with clients.
• Ability to exercise good judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Conduct crisis assessments to obtain pertinent social history data.
• Create crisis and safety plans including intervention and prevention steps to avoid unnecessary out of home placement and/or hospitalization.
• Provide linkage and follow up for inmates leaving the jail
• Coordinate with community partners to establish discharge planning for inmates
• Provide consultation with community agencies and other professionals.
• Provide groups in the jail.
• Complete required record keeping according to state and agency requirements.
• Participate in in-service training
• Participate with other staff members in the diagnostic process and treatment planning.
• Involvement with needs assessment, program development, prioritization and evaluation.
• Monitor the grant, collect data and complete grant reporting with your immediate supervisor.
• Research other grants for funding opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties

• Bachelors degree in social work, psychology or human services from an accredited undergraduate school. Or have a Masters degree in social work, counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy from an accredited graduate school.
• Prior crisis/corrections experience preferred
• Must possess valid drivers license
