Junior Order United American Mechanics Children's Home, Inc. is Hiring a Residential Services Assistant Near Lexington, NC

SUMMARY: The Residential Services Assistant provides support to employees and youth in the Residential program through assistance with medication management, transportation and supervision of campus youth, and any other duties needed to support departmental operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all prescription medication fulfillment for youth in the Residential program including first fills, refills, pharmacy pickup, distribution to cottages, and collection/disposal of packaging and unused medications. 
  • Ensure the completion and accuracy of Medication Administration Records for both the Residential and Foster Care programs.
  • Review all logs and documentation related to medication management; organize, file, and store all records in a safe and secure manner.
  • Train new Cottage Parents in the procedures and practices of medication management specific to the cottage parent role in conjunction with the Cottage Parent Supervisor(s).
  • Assist with the daily transportation needs of campus youth as scheduled by the Cottage Parent Supervisor(s).
  • Occasionally assist with supervising campus youth individually and as a group to support departmental operations; may include overnight supervision in very rare instances.
  • Provide routine assistance to Residential staff including Case Managers, Supervisors, or Administration and provide occasional coverage for other areas in the agency such as the Business Office.
  • Communicate with all staff members in a manner that supports a team approach, speak respectfully to everyone, and never resort to yelling or using profanity.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of the CARE model and TCI system in your daily practice.
  • Know and follow the practices, procedures, and policies of the American Children’s Home, COA (accreditation), and NC state standards.
  • Participate in weekly transition meetings as requested, case reviews, monthly reflective supervision and staffing, and any other meetings requiring your attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 25 years of age
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; associate degree is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable safe driving record must be maintained
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet, typing, ExtendedReach
  • 1st Aid, CPR certified (or willing to become certified)
  • Medication Aide or Pharmacy Aide training highly preferred
  • Records management experience highly preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs
  • Frequently required to talk and hear
  • Frequently required to grasp, reach, and utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel,push, or pull 
  • Occasionally must lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Specific visual abilities required include close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus; vision for driving
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions
