JW Hicks, Inc. (JWHI) is an American manufacturing/design company currently seeking a Senior Machine Operator in our Knox, IN, location to operates machinery and equipment in accordance with JWHI standard operating procedures to produce refractory pressed shapes. The ideal candidate for JW Hicks is someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who pays close attention to detail and shows a willingness to learn new things.

Senior Machine Operator Primary Responsibilities:

• Operates mixers and adds minor ingredients to batched raw materials to prepare mixes for pressing.
• Operates presses to form mixed materials into refractory shapes, making adjustments to achieve proper shape dimensions and density
• Perform press die changes and loads press programs
• Operates rotary surface grinders, boring machines, and water treatment equipment to achieve refractory shape tolerances.
• Maintain raw material and product identification to insure traceability.
• Documents production by means of manual documents and computer data entry.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a neat and orderly condition.
• Perform other duties as requested by Supervision.

Senior Machine Operator Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• 3 - 5 years experience operating machinery and equipment
• Ability to lift product of up to 60 lbs. and physically perform responsibilities above
• Mechanical and mathematical aptitude
• Basic computer literacy
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment

Senior Machine Operator Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of proper use of hand and power tools
• ISO 9000:2000 and statistical process control training
• Familiarity with crane and forklift operations
• Familiarity with rigging and lifting devices
• Familiarity with OSHA industrial standards
• First aid and CPR qualifications
• Competence in interpreting mechanical drawings
• Familiarity with computer spreadsheets
