Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Department: Operations

Reports to: Facilities Manager

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university and 2 to 5 years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience may be substituted for education.The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for:
  • Defining, designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process.
  • Researching and implementing best in class manufacturing methods and processes, testing new systems for efficiency and planning factory layouts to optimize production.
  • Evaluating quality control processes and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Analyzing production processes, schedules, methods, and other data to provide management with reports for future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
  • Ensuring that the company's manufacturing processes are compliant with safety, environmental, quality standards, and government laws and regulations.
  • Reviewing and calculating labor, material, and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision-making.
  • Planning workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Eliminating waste in the manufacturing process and applying innovative systems to improve workflows.
  • Identifying delays in production and sources of waste, and applying technology and engineering principles to refine the system.
  • Training factory staff on how to properly incorporate new technology and methods into current production standards.
  • Evaluating materials status, machine use, labor and other resources to enable the accurate management of activities, resources, and workflows inside the facility to increase worker productivity and throughput and reduce cycle times.
  • Evaluating current manufacturing practices and identifying those needing improvement.
  • Recommending production schedules and coordinating support and services to maximize productivity.
  • Improving the efficiency of each production process.
  • Evaluating employees' tasks and responsibilities, identifying procedures, tools, methods, and training to improve productivity.
  • Building various production layouts to improve productivity, reduce wastefulness in the workplace, and cut costs.
  • Monitoring the overall operations to find new ways to increase its efficiencies through new production designs.
  • Analyzing current processes and production schedules and designing new production processes accordingly.
  • Designing various control systems to help minimize costs and increase production quality.
  • Compiling equipment and material lists, cost analyses, production cost estimations, and purchase requests before implementing new projects.
  • Developing and maintaining Capacity Analysis Models and identifying and eliminating bottlenecks.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other relevant software applications.

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
