AMaintenance Technician or Maintenance Mechanic is in charge ofperforming ongoing facility maintenance and completing repairs onequipment.
Their duties include fixing machinery plumbing heatingand wiring inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards andscheduling major repairs with the building s inhabitants. Dutiesinclude :
- Performingroutine maintenance around the building such as fixing structuraldamage for example window door or wallrepair
- Repairingbroken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore fulluse of waterfixtures
- Workingon damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wireoccurs
- Maintainingthe building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in thefacility functioningproperly
- Applyingpreventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of futureproblems such as using a sealant on a flatroof
- Fixingpotential safety hazards to avoidinjuries
- Paintingthe building when old paint has become faded orchipped
Requirements
- Plumbingknowledge to address leaks clogs or other drainageproblems
- Carpentryability to handle basic repairs around thebuilding
- Groundskeeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas inneed ofmaintenance
- Interpersonalskills to interact with employees or residents of the building in apleasantmanner
- Attentionto detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplarymanner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems arenotoverlooked
- Physicalstamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on thebuilding
