Our client is searching for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer. Reporting to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will assist with the design, analysis, and testing of new and existing CLIENT and customer products.

Responsibilities include designing and developing equipment, and hardware for harsh environments, designing and manufacturing test systems for evaluating CLIENT hardware and products. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work with designers and detailers to create layouts, detail and assembly drawings of new equipment, perform all calculations, estimations, and laboratory tests required to verify the soundness and suitability of the design, perform finite element analysis (FEA) on parts and assemblies to determine stresses with applied loads and pressures, initiate and monitor the procurement of all parts required to build prototypes; assist in the construction of prototypes and set up bench and field testing of equipment, hardware and software and evaluate test results.

For this position, the right candidate will have experience with ensuring that drawings, specifications, and procedures are complete, current, and appropriate for their purpose, and are released to other departments in a timely and orderly manner, will participate in design reviews as well as write and distribute meeting minutes, and ensure that project tasks are completed on schedule and within budget constraints. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will write project update reports and final project reports, act as a resource person, providing training and guidance and instruction to others as required and be involved with sustaining engineering activities including product improvement efforts and material review board (MRB).

Travel as required, both domestically and internationally, to CLIENT and customer facilities to assist with product support and new product development/commercialization.

We are searching for a candidate who holds an Engineering Degree plus 5 or more years’ experience, or the equivalent, BSME Completed courses in machine design, mechanics of materials, fluid dynamics, heat transfer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical & hydraulic assembly. Candidate must be familiar with basic inspection instruments and methods,have strong machine design experience including shafting, bearings, gears, springs and weldments, with strong fluid dynamics aptitude is a plus. Knowledgeable in high strength, corrosion resistant materials and experience with CNC and manual machining processes, welding, fabrication is required along with the ability to read technical drawings with geometric tolerancing. Knowledge of machine design, materials, stress analysis, corrosion and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects tasks with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate must be proficient with CAD (SolidWorks), have proficiency in using ANSYS FEA and be able to supervise lab technicians and outside labs for product development, and have very strong communications skills; possess the ability to interface effectively with all employees and with customers at all levels, and with those using or maintaining company products in the field, and most importantly, must demonstrate inventive, and creative approaches to problem solving with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects tasks with minimal supervision.
