Job Summary:

The Manager of Home Health Care in Hawaii is accountable for managing the development, planning, design, delivery and evaluation/improvement of home care and hospice services, programs and operations at multiple sites and service areas. This position is accountable for profit/loss, performance management/improvement, regulatory compliance, policy and procedure administration and systems management. Ensures compliance with Medicare, TJC, and other federal, state, and local requirements. Under the direction of the Care at Home Service Line, this position develops, maintains and evaluates/improves practice standards and ensures consistent implementation and coordination of services. Responsible for the delivery of home health services/programs that add value and are integrated with Regional Home Health/Hospice/Home Palliative/miscellaneous in-home programs and organizational strategic and business goals/objectives. This position will supervise staff.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Directs and organizes the operational staff in the design, delivery and evaluation/improvement of business operations and other home care services/programs provided.
  • Assures that services/programs meet or exceed cost, quality, standards, and performance measures including but not limited to profit/loss accountability, performance management/improvement, regulatory compliance administrative oversight, Home Care computerized applications.
  • In collaboration with Home Care Director of Patient Care Service and/or Area Administrator, develops and implements strategic planning across service lines to achieve the most cost-effective, efficient levels of business operation.
  • Collaborates with physicians and continuing care to plan for and meet operational Home Care needs. Designs and evaluates processes and policies/procedures to improve operational and technological systems. Ensures policies, practices and procedures comply with administrative, legal, and regulatory requirements of Health Plan, governmental and accrediting agencies.
  • Develops and monitors budgets and resource allocations. Monitors financial performance and identifies and implements strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of service/care. Responsible for the efficient delivery of Home Care services provided through outside providers and ensures appropriate oversight to maintain high-quality local contracts for outsourced cases.
  • Accountable for the efficient delivery of Home Care services by participating in and collaborating with service area and Continuing Care leaders in the development, negotiation, and utilization of cost-effective, high quality contracts across the continuum of care with outside providers and joint contracting opportunities.
  • Manages local agency contract/vendor relations management. Coordinates change management, and guidance implementation with Regional Home Care Services.
  • Performs other non-clinical business functions as assigned.

  • Minimum five (5) years of either consulting, project management, healthcare operations or health insurance experience including minimum two (2) years working in healthcare.

  • Minimum three (3) years of healthcare management experience, to include managing people, programs and/or projects.

Education

  • Bachelors degree required, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field. High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Demonstrate ability to determine the key business issues and develop appropriate action plans from multidisciplinary perspectives.
  • Demonstrate ability to conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis.
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of data systems.
  • Proven leadership skills in project management, process improvement, healthcare operations and consulting.
  • Must exhibit efficiency, collaboration, candor, openness, and results orientation.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the operations and/or business of KP, health policy trends, and any applicable regulations related to the responsible practice area.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum six (6) years of consulting and project management experience including two (2) years working in healthcare preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
  • Lean Process Improvement Certification preferred.
  • Masters degree strongly preferred.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Public Health (MPH), or Master of HealthCare Admin (MHA) preferred.
