What are my roles and responsibilities?

Family and Community Connector

  • Believe families are critical partners in student success.
  • Engage families in support of Students with Disabilities and/or English Language Learners and proactively build trusting partnerships through biweekly phone calls and frequent texts or emails
  • Participate in 4-5 community events during the year
  • Support the IEP, 504, and eligibility meeting process with family members

Co-Lead a Pride (Advisory)

  • Use the to do support the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) we do with scholars by:
  • Completing several pieces of independent self-exploration work to share in Staff Circles over the course of the year.
  • Actively participate in weekly Staff Circles.
  • Co-Lead a daily Pride for scholars (30 min Mon-Thurs, 60 min on Fri)
  • Weekly social/emotional lessons
  • Daily academic and SEL coaching
  • Facilitate Scholar Circles on Fridays

Share Your Passion for Learning with Our Scholars

  • Take responsibility for students’ academic engagement, growth, and achievement
  • Lead small-group and whole-group instruction
  • Co-teach with other Learning Support Specialists and Core Content Teachers
  • Engage in weekly observation/feedback meetings
  • Develop IEPs and 504s directly linked to standards and the school grading system
  • Ensure students and teachers implement accommodations and modifications during instruction and assessment
  • Manage state compliance of student support service files and management systems
  • Analyze data to identify trends for targeted support

Other Duties

  • Manage a caseload of (<20) students including their IEP or ILP and communicate goals, accommodations, and modifications to staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including reasonable physical demands expected from the working environment of a school

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years teaching experience
  • Valid Missouri Teacher Certification
  • Must be Certified to teach ESL or SPED in Missouri
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Conversational or better knowledge of a world language is preferred but not required, especially Arabic, Burmese, French, Karen, Kinyarwanda, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, or Vietnamese.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
