Reports To: Program Supervisor for Project TYKEPeriod of Employment: 12 Months (187 days, 4 days a week) Sept 1 - August 31(Grant Funded Position)

Primary PurposeThe person in this position provides consultation and training to parents and developmental instruction to infants and children who are developmentally delayed or at risk for delay. This person will provide services to children in their natural environment and assist in the implementation of child/family goals.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assess and determine a child’s developmental competencies and reassess those competencies at annual intervals.
  • Translate competencies into an instructionally relevant early childhood intervention program.
  • Coordinate and participate as a member of all IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan) meetings (initial, review and annual) helping parents determine family centered outcomes and strategies that will address their concerns for their child as well as any developmental delay or disorder
  • Plan and implement an instructional program that includes functional outcomes which follow a developmental sequence and provide activities for caregivers and child participation.
  • Determine developmentally appropriate evaluation tools and intervention materials.
  • Plan, schedule, and implement all direct and/or indirect services as mandated by the IFSP.
  • Communicate developmental activities effectively to parents, teachers/directors, and other team members.
  • Implement services within the child’s home and/or community setting, including daycare or home care situations.
  • Function as consultant and instructor for parents and program staff as required
  • Complete local, state, and federal mandated paperwork required for program participation.
  • Maintain service related records, including but not limited to audit folders, progress notes, service coordination notes, evaluation summaries and any required district, state or federal documentation.
  • Maintain and meet all required federal, state and local timelines.
  • Follow ECI Program billing and reimbursement policies and procedures.
  • Review and make recommendations regarding curriculums and programs that may be appropriate for intervention.
  • Function as a direct service provider/service coordinator for children enrolled in Project TYKE.
  • Participate in staff meetings, team meetings and team staffing for enrolled children.
  • Participate in public awareness activities and in-service trainings as required
  • Maintain continuing education requirements for licensure and professional certification.
  • Communicate with day care, preschool, and mother’s day out directors and teachers on how to provide an effective learning environment, teaching strategies and implementation of outcomes for the student.
  • Communicate with parents on the progress of their child in the community based program.
  • Provide in-service training for community based programs on topics related to the education of special needs infants and toddlers when necessary.
  • Provide parents with awareness of inclusion opportunities within the community.
  • Communicate the Transition process as required by state and federal mandates to parents.
  • Offer to accompany parents to the ARD when necessary.
  • Participate in Medicaid Administrative Claiming Time Studies.
  • Provide own transportation when providing services in the child’s natural environment (home and community).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working ConditionsWork with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; constantly operates a computer and other office productivity technology; frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling; constant mobility from office location to service sites; moderately lifting and carrying 15-44 pounds daily; use of adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, standers, communication devices, etc.; district wide travel requiring use of personal vehicle.
