  • Valid Texas Business and Finance, Business Education, Marketing, Marketing Education teaching certificate
OR May Include a Combination Of
  • Professional work experience in your licensed occupational field
  • Formal training and education
  • Relevant industry licensure, certification, or registration; and/or
  • Any combination of work experience, training and education, or industry credential related to the subject matter he/she will be teaching.

The Mission Of This RoleServe as Career and Technical Education instructor in Business, Marketing, and Finance pathway. (Accounting and Financial Services, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Sales, and/or Real Estate) Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to be successful in post-secondary education and/or in an entry level position in the industry.
What Success Looks Like For This Role
  • Present a positive role model for students; demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and skill in the subject areas taught.
  • Develop long- and short-range plans for the instructional program.
  • Provide planned instruction to assigned students; presenting the subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA, Board policies, and aligned industry credentialing agency.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, to include classroom management strategies and assisting students in analyzing and improving their study methods and habits.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
  • Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication and professional relationship with students and their parents, colleagues, and community members.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Work to maintain and improve professional competence through participation in campus and district staff development programs.
  • Cooperate with other members of staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Attend and participate in ARDs and work cooperatively with the Special Education teachers to modify curriculum according to the guidelines in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for students in Special Education.
  • Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs via maintaining a subject matter advisory committee. Initiate activities to meet identified needs of the industry.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Responsible for receiving and maintaining teaching supplies and classroom equipment as provided by the District; keep a current inventory of all items and provide the inventory upon request.
  • Implement technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.
  • Compile and maintain all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required, to include student records and credentialing information.
  • Assume responsibility for student participation in leadership activities associated with career and technical education student organization as sanctioned by TEA and the District.
  • Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs, work to meet those needs, and initiate activities and use appropriate and effective techniques to enhance community and parent involvement.

Working ConditionsPhysical demands/Environment factors: May require standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Mental demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to instruct; maintain emotional control under stress.
