Kay HR Solutions is Hiring a Cost Accountant Near Columbus, OH

Job DescriptionJob Summary:The Cost Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the cost accounting system, incorporating understanding of manufacturing operations and generally accepted accounting practices. This position will take direction with general supervision from the Controller and requires interaction with all levels of the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Reviews and posts daily manufacturing accounting entries.
  • Reviews cost and variance trends; researching significant variations and recommending appropriate response.
  • Prepares daily operating performance analysis; including inventory movements, sales, and cost of goods sold, to identify significant issues in a timely fashion.
  • Reviews new BOMs and Routers submitted for accuracy.
  • Performs monthly inventory valuation and reconciliation of cost ledgers.
  • Process CAPEX requests, tracking spend, and capitalizing asset as required.
  • Performs data analysis as required to perform job duties or as requested by management staff.
  • Prepares and monitors operating forecasts based on budgets. Review significant variations and analyze operating impact.
  • Assist in establishing labor and overhead rates in line with operating budgets.
  • Assists other employees with information and/or analysis when requested.
  • Provide payroll processing coverage as needed.
  • Predicts, plans, and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs.
  • Prepares necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins.
  • Performs month-end and year-end closings with assistance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as accounting software.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.
  • At least two years of experience in cost accounting required.
