Head of People (HOP) opportunity with a new start-up client in Texas.

As a Head of People you have:

  • Championed an organization's mission

  • Assembled and lead a small HR team, overseeing its development

Our IDEAL Head of People:

  • Be on-site 80% of the week, traveling to other facilities when needed

  • Fun, positive attitude even in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensure compliance with medical, 401(k), FMLA, CFRA, SDI, LOA, EEO-1 filings, 5550s, OSHA, Wage and Hour laws, etc.
  • Develop holistic strategies for Employee Experience, Talent Acquisition, Culture, Rewards, Diversity, Learning & Development, and Compliance/Core HR functions
  • Organizational Development by aligning People team strategy with company priorities
  • Develop total rewards philosophy for a high-performing culture
  • Own performance management, feedback, promotion, and compensation cycles
  • Oversee onboarding initiatives and measure employee ramp up and engagement
  • Lead workplace investigations and employee relations matters
  • Lead talent acquisition to attract and develop top talent
  • Lead internal communication strategy for employee awareness and engagement
  • Develop HR reporting and analytics function for effective decision-making
  • Develop key operational metrics and dashboards to support best-in-class employee experience and happiness
  • Excellent collaborator adept at building strong cross-functional relationships
  • Lead with empathy, emotional intelligence, communication, and influencing skills
  • Strategic business partner and "thought leader" to Executive Leadership team
  • Coach leaders and embrace feedback for leadership evolution
  • Hire, onboard, coach, and mentor People/HR team

Head of People Requirements:

  • Ph.D., Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s in related field (HR, Organizational Development or similar) strongly preferred
  • 15 years progressive experience owning HR/People Strategy within a rapidly scaling environment with a distributed workforce comprised of both non-exempt and exempt employees
  • Preferable experience leading mission-driven culture including a manufacturing/industrial population of 200 employees
  • SPHR certification a plus
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; practical experience translating those laws into organizational policies and practices
  • Ability to develop recommendations grounded in a combination of data, best practices research, and personal expertise
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Proven ability to re-prioritize and work quickly and efficiently
  • Experience in legal, finance, risk management, and organizational development
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, highly collaborative, with the ability to communicate effectively, across all levels of the organization
  • Hands-on, results-driven self-starter skilled at multitasking and prioritization
  • Attention to detail, multi-tasking, and strong follow-through required
  • Ability to travel to multiple facilities, estimated travel 20%
