PSM Specialist- Ammonia

We are working with one of the top dairy producers in the country! With their countrywide footprint, they bring their best to customers and have plenty of opportunities for employees to grow in their own way! They are looking for a PSM Specialist- Ammonia to oversee implementation and compliance of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP programs and assist in maintaining the integrity of the plant’s ammonia and related cooling process systems.

Location: Delaware County, NY. Relocation assistance available!

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of implementation and compliance of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP programs and assist in maintaining the integrity of the plant’s ammonia and related cooling process systems..
• Provide technical and PSM/RMP related training as required.
• Educate/train personnel on program aspects to include: hazard recognition, incident investigation, mechanical integrity inspections and how to address gaps.
• Maintain a working knowledge and oversight of refrigeration systems, PSM (14 elements), RMP, applicable state and federal rules and regulations and applicable refrigeration codes and standards.
• Lead incident investigation activities related to ammonia systems including report completion and communications to the plant, Refrigeration Services and other corporate groups.
• Provide technical support for the plant maintenance supervisor/manager in PSM & RMP and participate on any teams/projects as needed including soliciting quotes for ammonia system work from vendors.
• Perform routine inspections and review maintenance on the system to ensure items are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance in troubleshooting refrigeration system problems and develop plans for future improvements.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Industrial Risk Management, or the equivalent combination of experience and education and 2 or more years of relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing preferred.
• 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role leading environmental or occupational health and safety (food or industrial manufacturing industry preferred)
• Experience with Ammonia Refrigeration Systems, PSM, RMP, process instrumentation and process drawings, PLC’s preferred.
• Ability to develop relationships and effectively influence at all levels internally (i.e. management teams) and externally (regulators).
• Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays.
