Job Summary
Big Sandy Community & Technical College is seeking a Director of Accounting. This position handles and/or supervises the non-student financial functions including all aspects of purchasing, inventory tagging and monitoring, cash and accounting journal entries, bank/GL reconciliations, pulling various queries/reports, preparing occasional reports, and assisting with budget development as needed. The position will be located on the Prestonsburg Campus (with occasional travel to other campuses as needed).
Job Duties:
Accounting - Handles the non-student financial functions including preparing accounting journals; reconciling bank, GL, and clearing accounts; preparing financial reports, works with other departments to clear outstanding items, etc.
Inventory Monitoring – Compiles Inventory reports, tracks and monitors inventory changes, oversees all tagging of inventory, collects and tracks all Off-Site Use of Equipment forms, and works closely with purchasing of items to be inventoried.
Purchasing – Supervises purchasing; assists with purchasing and business procedure trainings as needed; prepare reports; provides oversight of utility, lease, custodial, fleet, and contract payments and reconciliation; etc.
Budgeting – Assists with budget development, monitoring, HR encumbrances, and reports; pulls payroll reports for grants and other reconciliation purposes; assist with grant budget entries and revisions; etc.
Mail Room – Provides oversight of mail room operations.
Other financial duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and three to four years related experience preferably Business, Finance or Accounting or work equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree and three to four years related experience preferably Business, Finance or Accounting or work equivalency.
Additional Skills Requested:
