Job Summary
Somerset Community College is accepting applications for an Aviation Maintenance Technology- Instructor. This faculty position will provide the leadership necessary to work cooperatively with KCTCS and SCC school faculties, administrative teams, and appropriate units within the College to implement all aspects of the aviation maintenance technology program in relation to instruction, recordkeeping, tools, equipment, and supply needs as well as assist the coordinator as required.
Job Duties:
• This position will be responsible for teaching Aviation Maintenance courses within the
technical program to postsecondary students both online and in classroom. Other duties
include academic advising, course and curriculum development, institutional service,
community service, leadership, and professional development.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records according to all KCTCS, SCC, and FAA policies and
regulations.
• Report necessary shop and equipment maintenance needs to assure that all required
equipment is in good working order, meets FAA certification requirements, and is ready for
instructional use.
• Teach classes as assigned by the program coordinator and facilitate the smooth operation of
all aspects of the program.
• Document all absences and keep other student and program records as requested by the
program coordinator.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the designated supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of work experience in the AMT field as an FAA certified A&P Technician and
an Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent.
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certification
• All applicants must meet FAA Licensure/Certification requirements for the occupation
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Aviation Maintenance Technology.
• FAA Inspection Authorization
• Three (3) years of teaching experience in the field of aviation maintenance
• Prior experience or training with Blackboard or similar online course delivery system
