Job SummaryThis adjunct instructor will work collaboratively with students, fellow faculty, and staff to ensure the education needs of the individual learner are met. They will work to empower students to be fully engaged in the learning environment, promoting growth and academic development. Job Duties
Mandatory On-line Training: required to complete all assigned online training in the timeframe provided per KCTCS HR Policies and Procedures.
Attend at least one (1) Part-Time Faculty (formerly known as adjunct) Orientation per year.
Make the course available to students in Blackboard by 9:00am (EST) on the first day of the session.
Prepare a syllabus (with course schedule) in accordance with the template provided, submit a copy to course manager prior to start of semester, and upload to Blackboard by 9:00am (EST) on the first day of the session.
Maintain grades in Blackboard, turn in final grades, report last day of attendance, report no shows, and complete all proactive no-show/early alert activities on or before the deadline.
Respond to student requests to classroom related information, including but not limited to; current grade, clarification on assignments and available resources.
Make time to meet with students as needed in person and/or virtually.
Utilize effective instructional methods to facilitate student learning and success.
Utilize Gateway e-mail account and all college related correspondence frequently.
Attend all class sessions (absences may result in reduced pay) and notify the Academic Dean, the Information Commons and/or front office of the campus where classroom is assigned, and students, if class is cancelled. In general, it is preferable for faculty to find a substitute instructor, presenter and/or alternate assignment.
Respond to requests for information in a timely manner.
Document and report student learning outcome data to the designated contact person upon completion of course(s).
Update personal information in PeopleSoft – Employee Self Service.
Notify the Office of Academic Affair’s to update credential files.
Maintain current licensure or certifications for appropriate credentials to continue teaching and provide copies to the Office of Academic Affairs.
Participate in GCTC professional development activities to become proficient in the use of the college’s Learning Management System (LMS) “Blackboard”.
Participate in professional development activities related to innovative and effective instructional pedagogies.
Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
Preferred candidates would be able to teach at various levels to help support their programs.
Additional Skills Requested
Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
