Kdc/one Columbus is Hiring a Plant Hygienist - kdc/one Columbus Laboratory Near Albany, OH

Summary: The Plant Hygienist will be responsible for managing the facility-wide sanitation program, the Master Sanitation Plan,assist in management of the microbiology laboratory at the facility, and having oversight of Clean-in-Place (CIP) and Clean-out-of-Place (COP) activities throughout the facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with plant personnel to develop and manage all aspects of the Master Sanitation Plan goals and objectives.
  • Provide guidance to daily micro lab operations and processes .
  • Directs the investigation related to cleaning and sanitization.
  • Authoring and revising site Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for cleaning.
  • Directs housekeeping and cleaning programs.
  • Qualifies the effectiveness of cleaning procedures.
  • Understands and adheres to Environmental, Occupational and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Understands and adheres to all Quality, Good Manufacturing practices, micro cleaning and sanitization standards and guidelines.
  • Conducts/Participates in staff training of site sanitation procedures.
  • Regularly audits manufacturing and production by compiling an annual audit schedule.
  • Determines the frequency of “super” cleaning of equipment used for micro sensitive products.
  • Participates in company continuous improvement initiatives by seeking out new opportunities related to cleaning and sanitization.
  • Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of the normal schedule as needed due to workplace demands (e.g. supporting off-shifts). Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Biology, Chemistry , Chemical Engineering or similar field
  • Experience with laboratory, manufacturing, filling and packaging of liquid products.
  • Four to six years relevant industry experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA Safety Requirements; Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Parameters (HACCP)
  • Skill in: solving problems; prioritizing work to ensure deadlines are met; project management; organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to: manage multiple and competing priorities; resolve difficult situations with no clear direction; adapt to change; develop and maintain good working relationships; develop and maintain processes and workflows; be detail-oriented; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a diverse group of individuals; present information to large and small groups; be organized and work quickly and efficiently with short deadlines; multi-task; read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions, including SOPs; work independently and as part of a team; operate a computer; wear required PPE as needed when walking through the facility, influence across all levels of the organization.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50pounds manually.
  • A climate-controlled office environment; the noise level is usually moderately quiet
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, crouch, talk, hear, push and pull
  • Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
