Description:

As the Social Security Disability Claims Director, you will lead and manage our team of application coordinators specializing in social security disability cases. Your role involves overseeing the team’s work to ensure efficient case management, maintaining high standards of client support, and fostering a collaborative environment. Strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of social security regulations, and a compassionate approach towards clients facing disability challenges are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the Social Security Disability Application Coordinator team, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
  • Review and evaluate intake forms completed by application coordinators to determine if the firm should accept a client.
  • Make decisions on proceeding with cases, requesting additional information, or consulting with the Disability Attorney for further guidance.
  • Ensure application coordinators oversee the completion of representative forms and questionnaires by clients.
  • Oversee scheduling of appointments for clients to complete the disability application process, ensuring application coordinators are facilitating this effectively.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of phone conferences conducted by application coordinators to assist clients in online application submission.
  • Ensure that application coordinators guide clients in completing and submitting required forms to the Social Security Administration (SSA).
  • Coordinate client attendance at SSA-scheduled examinations through the application coordinator team.
  • Facilitate appointments with the Disability Attorney for clients, ensuring efficient scheduling.
  • Oversee application coordinators assisting clients with telehealth arrangements if needed.
  • Manage communications with SSA offices, ensuring that application coordinators liaise with the Disability Attorney to provide requested information.
  • Act as a primary liaison between the firm and SSA, ensuring timely and accurate communication through the application coordinator team.
  • Prompt application coordinators to schedule client appointments for case review before scheduled hearings.
  • Supervise the ordering and follow-up on the receipt of medical records by application coordinators.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of on-the-record (OTR) briefs when applicable.
  • Ensure that application coordinators summarize medical records and conduct mock hearings in collaboration with the Disability Attorney.
  • Monitor case decisions and oversee the initiation of reconsideration or appeals as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Disability Attorney to determine the appropriate course of action on complex cases.
Requirements:


Requirements and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a legal setting.
  • Proven leadership of a remote workforce (Desirable).
  • In-depth understanding and ability to navigate different CRM platforms.
  • Prior Salesforce experience (Desirable)
  • Proficiency in Assure, the software program used to submit documents to SSA. (Desirable)
  • Comprehensive understanding of SSA websites for application submission, report review, and information retrieval to stay updated with rules and regulations.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft products – Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Paralegal certification or relevant legal education.
  • Extensive knowledge of social security disability laws and procedures. (Desirable)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive client interactions with empathy and patience.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks in a dynamic legal environment.
