Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors for the following course in the Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genomic Data Analytics program at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI):
GENE 6130 DNA Sequencing and Variant Analysis (Fall, 3 credit hours)
Course Description
In this course, students will gain a detailed understanding of clinical DNA sequencing technologies and genome sequence variant curation. Topics include gene curation and SNV, CNV, and SV germline curation using ACMG guidelines, in addition to somatic curation best practices.
The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Programs. An appreciation for an integrated, team-based approach to learning is especially desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative approaches to academic program development, have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work effectively in a team environment. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Associate Dean of Faculty and works collaboratively with the Program Directors and other faculty.
Located in beautiful Claremont, California, Keck Graduate Institute is a member of the prestigious Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges, two graduate institutions, and The Claremont Colleges Services, which provide shared institutional support services. Education and Experience:
  • Must hold a master's degree, Ph.D. preferred, in human genetics or related field
  • Experience with medical genetics and germline variant curation
  • Experience in industry or academic research in clinical genomics, highly desired
  • An ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A strong commitment to a culture of diversity, respect, and inclusion.
  • Prior experience in teaching for active learning preferred.
  • Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.

Special Requirements:

Physical and Mental Requirements
