Kellanova is Hiring a Lead Data Scientist Near Battle Creek, MI

Join our dynamic, progressive team of IT professionals as a Lead Data Scientist! Become an integral member of a team of data scientists, unearthing new insights that the business can action against to drive value. We will look to you to build trustworthiness in your decision models. This position is a hybrid role and can be located in the Battle Creek, MI or Chicago/Naperville, Illinois areas.
On the Kellanova North America (KNA) IT Data and Analytics team, we focus on agility, growth, and innovation. We aim to enhance decision-making capabilities, maximizing growth potential for our trusted food brands.
A Taste Of What You’ll Be Doing
  • Advance Business Decision-Making – Enhance business decision-making by improving existing predictive models in commercial and supply chain areas. Leverage technical expertise to propose and experiment with innovative initiatives. Play a key role in data science, applying pre- and post-modeling techniques effectively and employing experimental design to impact critical business decisions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Collaborate with business experts, conduct model pilots using diverse datasets, validate findings iteratively with stakeholders, and develop purposeful advanced modeling methods. Articulate rationales, even when challenging existing beliefs.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting – Analyze noisy datasets to identify meaningful patters, leveraging both internal and external data sources. Communicate insights promptly to stakeholders, particularly when integrating new data collection processes for project timelines.
  • Training and Mentorship - Design and deliver end-user training for developed models or tools. Provide guidance and problem-solving assistance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
We’re Looking for Someone With
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience
  • Hands-on experience in one or more programming/query languages (Python, R, SQL)
  • Proven commercial experience in applying machine learning techniques and statistical modeling
  • Effective communication skills, showcasing the ability to articulate complex concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Project management experience
