Organization Overview: Based in Sydney and New York, the family office manages a globally diversified portfolio of companies and investments, focusing on delivering exceptional financial, investment, philanthropic, and personal services to the family principals (the "Family"). Role Summary: The Finance and Tax Director, US, is pivotal in supporting the Group CFO in executing comprehensive financial strategies within the Family's US operations. This position demands a blend of expertise in financial management, tax planning and compliance, and effective collaboration, ensuring alignment with the family office's broader objectives. Key Responsibilities:
US Financial Strategy Assistance: Help the Group CFO develop and implement financial strategies for the Family's US operations. This includes participating in strategic planning and providing insightful analyses and recommendations for the USA. Engage with third-generation family members as a financial consultant and advisor, leveraging expertise to influence strategic decisions and optimize financial performance
US Tax Planning and Compliance: Play a significant role in the planning and executing of sophisticated US tax strategies. Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure tax positions are correctly recorded, and that Family complies with all US tax laws and regulations including filing and payment deadlines
Support in Financial Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports, budgets and forecasts for Family's US operations.
Liquidity and Cash Flow Oversight: Support the CFO in managing liquidity requirements for the Family's diverse US activities, including US non-profit/philanthropic endeavors
Collaborative Teamwork: Under the guidance of the Group CFO, work with a dynamic and driven team based primarily in Sydney, including finance and non-finance professionals. Ability to collaborate across the organization and switch between high-level strategic work and day-to-day tasks
Requirements
Education and Professional Credentials: A bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications such as CPA, CMA, or an equivalent master's degree are highly valued
US tax knowledge - strong knowledge of US tax laws and regulations with advanced degrees in tax related subjects highly valued.
Experience: Proven experience in financial management and tax compliance, with a preference for backgrounds in family offices, professional service firms or similar settings
Skills and Attributes: Exceptional financial acumen paired with strong communication skills. Adept at both high-level strategic thinking and attention to detail. Demonstrated capability in supporting senior leadership
