Job Summary: The Senior Product Development Engineer will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the development and improvement of our products. This position involves leading cross-functional project teams, managing project timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensuring that new products meet quality and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the entire product development lifecycle from concept to production, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing to define project scope and objectives.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor progress against these metrics.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses for new product ideas.
- Oversee the design, prototype development, and testing phases, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate regular project meetings, track project milestones, and prepare status reports for stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
- Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and design reviews to senior management and stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and industry trends to inform project and product development strategies.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in product development engineering and project management, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex product development projects from concept to market.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and quality control.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Professional Project Management (PMP) certification.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
