Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a Data Center Energy Marshall who will establish and manage an Energy Isolation assurance process and work with site teams to close any gaps identified in assurance audits. This job is located in Chicago, Illinois.

Duties:

• Ensure approval process for proposed Energy Isolation procedures is in place
• Work with the Authorizing Energy Marshall to establish an Energy Isolation Permit process
• Work with GC Safety Representatives to ensure all aspects of electrical safety on site are within the bounds of all NFPA and OSHA regulations
• Ensure SoWs, MOPs, and Scripts are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified
• Help determine if a group or individual LOTO will be required
• Establish, with the Authorizing Energy Marshall, a centralized LOTO with all site entities
• Ensure process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and PPE of personnel performing work
• Delegate alternates that are qualified to assume roles during multi-shift and peak energization time frames
• Liaise company operations where energy isolation activities may potentially impact operating datacenter core operations
• Act in coordination with the Authorizing Energy Marshall as a subject matter expert in all Energy Isolation incident investigations in area of responsibility
• Serve as an independent authority for stopping all unsafe work practices regarding Energy Isolation
• Oversee critical electrical switching and commissioning milestones
• Attend daily and weekly High Risk Activity and Job Hazard Analysis meetings and provide procedure preparation support associated with Energy Isolation

Desired Skills/Experience:

• 10 years of related experience
• Experience in datacenter construction and commissioning standards and practices
• Proven ability to interact with teams and implement improvements
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to engineers and non-engineers
• Ability to audit and effectively promote safe site practices against written standards as part of assurance role
• Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation with strong ability to interpret line drawings and system redundancies to ensure design of LOTO systems is 100% effective and in compliance with company standards
• Familiar with multiple sources of energy and equipment in datacenters, with emphasis placed on electrical
• NFPA 70e Certification
• OSHA 30 Hour Training
