Kemps is Hiring a Human Resources Manager I Near Fargo, ND

DescriptionWe are currently seeking a Human Resource Manager I for our Cass-Clay Creamery in Fargo, ND that produces branded and private label fluid milk and yogurt pouches. In this role, you will develop and maintain effective working relationships throughout the organization to facilitate engagement of human resources policies, programs, and procedures. As a leader your engagement is critical to the success of our people, by delivering superior service and promoting operational efficiencies at the plant.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Provide counsel to employees regarding human resources policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance and support with company guidelines, employment law, union contracts and Kemps company culture.
  • Follow internal processes for bi-weekly payroll processing, timecard review, summary of hours reports - submitting to corporate for payroll processing. Understands and can apply wage and labor laws to payroll and union contract language. Maintain payroll records and responds to payroll-related inquiries. Provide data for salary surveys.
  • Manage the recruitment process for non-exempt positions and partners with corporate in recruitment of exempt level positions. Work closely with hiring managers as trusted advisor throughout the process. Coordinate requisitions, internal and external job postings, applicant/candidate correspondence, interview schedules, job descriptions, references, offer letters, drug screens and background checks, requisition closeout, new employee set-up and on-boarding. Manage correspondence between applicants, recruiting source and hiring manager.
  • Process Worker’s Compensation claims. Seek input and give advice on how to manage large claims and problem cases. Actively participate on safety teams and is an integral part of safety via leading and giving suggestions to the team. Maintain OSHA 300 logs and yearly 300A form.
  • May participate in negotiating and administering union contracts, represent the Company on designated contracts for contract negotiations, and consult with senior management on strategy. Facilitate resolution of contract grievances and assist in arbitrations.
  • Provide employee records administrative support. Maintain and prepare required EEO/AAP reporting documents. Process employee status change transactions, tuition reimbursement payments, employment verifications, etc. Generate ad hoc reports as requested. Is a resource for ADP query, report writing, and completes monthly HR metrics reports.
  • Partner with representatives from the Corporate Benefit Services Center to ensure employees receive appropriate information on benefit enrollment, assists in coordinating the onsite wellness initiatives and fields employee benefits questions. Administer required paperwork and coordinates FMLA and STD programs.
  • Coordinate employee events, including recognition and retirement events, volunteer activities, corporate giving campaign, and the wellness program.
  • Coordinate employee communication regarding human resources programs and employee announcements to maintain Human Resources intranet site, to ensure consistent messaging to the organization.
  • Process monthly invoices for union dues, and other human resources related billings to include pensions, third-party health insurance, drug screens, background checks and employment agencies.
  • Participate in special projects in the areas of performance management, on-boarding, compensation and training and development.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices. Assist in process development and implementation for a variety of human resources best practices.
RequirementsRequirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources or related discipline is preferred. Will consider equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years in a Human Resources function, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources principles, concepts, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of worker’s compensation and familiarity with OSHA recording practices.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office at an Intermediate level. Experience in HRIS systems, Visio, and ADP.
