Description

Overview of Position

A Business Development Representative acts as the liaison between our Marketing and Sales teams. Your role will be to seek new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with potential customers within an assigned region. 

To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience developing leads from marketing campaigns and meeting sales quotas. You will use your communication skills to cultivate strong relationships with customers, from first contact until you close the deal. You will also ensure proper after-sales service.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Qualify leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities. 

  1. Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market through cold calls and emails. 

  1. Participate in trade shows, wedding/event expos, etc. to promote the company, products, and to develop sales leads. 

  1. Identify client needs and suggest appropriate products/services. 

  1. Customize product solutions to increase customer satisfaction. 

  1. Create and present custom material/presentations, in collaboration with the marketing team, to prospective customers. 

  1. Build long-term trusting relationships with clients. 

  1. Set up meetings or calls between (prospective) clients and salespeople.

  1. Report to leadership on (weekly/monthly/quarterly) sales results. 

  1. Stay current with new products/services and new pricing/payment plans. 

  1. Collaborate with Central Purchasing, Home Office, Ecommerce, and Marketing to determine product availability, upcoming promotions and sales efforts, and to develop long term sales goals. 

 Required skills/Abilities 

  1. Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. 

  1. Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills. 

  1. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  1. Ability to travel in a regional market; this can require multi-day trips. 

  1. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  1. Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Education/Experience Requirements 

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in marketing, outside sales or relationship development.
