- Please note - the pay range listed is reflective of our 2025 pay scale*The Veterans Services Community Outreach Specialist will develop strategies and lead initiatives to increase awareness of the Veterans Services Department, including relationship-building with veteran organizations and other providers of services to veterans, collaboration with department staff and community partners, and providing communications and public relations support for the department.In addition, the successful candidate will: Coordinate, plan and implement public outreach initiatives to promote Kent County Veterans Services to other service agencies, community organizations, nursing homes, veteran facilities, Veterans families and the general public.Serve as the department liaison to the County Administration Communications team and local media, preparing internal and external communications for the Administration Communications team to distribute countywide, including social media and website content.Receive and respond to requests for information about the department from the media, community organizations, professional groups, business organizations and the general public.Attend veteran member organization meetings (e.g., VFW, American Legion) nursing home and senior center events, libraries and other public events and facilities where Veterans and their families gather in order to promote department activities and initiatives.Coordinate, participate and facilitate community outreach in person, virtually and through public and social media and represent agency on local television programs.Will supervise up to two interns to support collaboration with community partners and coordination of events.Log, track, and maintain records on outreach and engagement activities.Have frequent interaction with staff, elected officials and the general public in person or by telephone to respond to inquiries, share information about services and promote the Department.Typically work a standard M-F, 8am-5pm schedule, but will require working some nights and/or weekends as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.
