Kent Hospital is Hiring a Send Out Clerk/ Phlebotomist Near Warwick, RI
Primary Function Responsible for the registration, preparation, processing, verification of result entry and follow up of specimens for reference laboratories. Based on department needs, assist in the performance of all forms of phlebotomy procedures (requires phlebotomy certification and up to date competency). Responsibilities 1. Processes and packages specimens for transport to all reference laboratories 2. Enters patient information into the correct system, verifying patient demographics, updating & verifying insurance information, etc. as needed. Enter patient test information into the computer making any necessary corrections or changes. 3. Researches test orders and establish necessary requirements for proper processing of specimens. Assists supervisor/manager in updating and changing protocols when needed. 4. Monitors phlebotomy station bench when needed, processes specimens to include, but not limited to: in-labbing, add-ons, stat orders, delivery and notification to phlebotomy staff when needed. 5. Communicates to patient care givers any testing requirements or results 6. Maintains the work area, including ordering of all necessary supplies. 7. Help to cover inpatient phlebotomy as needed if certified/competency is current 8. Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Qualifications and Specifications High school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of one year of Phlebotomy experience is preferred with phlebotomy certification. I. APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE 1.
