    What We Need:
    We are seeking an energetic, collaborative team member to join our Administrative Team as a School Psychologist. We need someone with a high level of organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills along with a high degree of initiative. The School Psychologist investigates the process of teaching and learning and applies psychological principles and techniques to educational problems. The School Psychologist enables students to derive a meaningful educational experience by promoting best practices to academic and/or behavioral challenges.

    What You Need:
    To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     • Hold at least a master’s degree from an approved institution of learning and be eligible under State of Michigan requirements to serve as a School Psychologist.
    • Demonstrate supervisory skills and excellent communication/interpersonal skills to deal effectively with superiors, peers, subordinates and all stakeholders.
    • Demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize technology
    • The ability to organize, prioritize and work independently as well as schedule and produce work within the department in an efficient and timely manner.
    • High degree of flexibility in order to achieve the District’s financial objectives and meet its demands/needs.
    • Broad knowledge of organizational operations and policies, and a high level of experience, discretion, integrity, and organizational skills.
    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • As a member of the Superintendent’s administrative team the School Psychologist maintains administrative responsibilities over the special education programs and services offered in their designated buildings. Additional supervisory duties may be assigned by the Director of Student Services
      The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this position. It is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements.
    In This Role:
    • Apply knowledge of health, mental health, disabilities, and child development in order to ensure that children and families are matched to appropriate support.
    • Coordinate and facilitate special education referrals from consent to completed IEP
    • Appropriately select, administer, score and interpret psycho-educational assessments for the purpose of making eligibility recommendations.
    • Complete and present written evaluation reports to parents and school district within required timelines.
    • Provide consultation to parents, teachers, administrators and other professionals on topics such as learning and behavior.
    • Promote an understanding of child development and its relationship to learning and behavior.
    • Participate in the development and revision of goals and performance objectives for students
    • Evaluate procedures and instructional materials at both student and system levels.
    • Establish and maintain records, reports including but not limited to weekly schedule, behavioral data, student progress, contacts with parents, staff and/or other medical professionals, and information required for Medicaid billing.
    • Work with parents and staff from diverse cultures, and apply a culturally competent and flexible approach.
    • Provide staff training and professional development.
    • Provide and interpret written information IEP development.
    • Keep abreast of new developments in the field
    • Demonstrate understanding of federal (IDEA) and state (MARSE) laws and guidelines that govern special education
    • Perform other such tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Superintendent or his/her designee may assign.
