Role reports to- Senior Director, Global Scientific Engagement and Activation
Location- Kenvue’s corporate headquarters is currently located in Skillman NJ, but is scheduled to move to Summit, NJ in or around early 2025.
Travel %- 10
Pay- Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $137,000 to $235,750. This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
What You Will DoThe Director of Global Scientific Engagement and Activation – Skin Health is a newly created role, providing strategic leadership and being responsible for driving scientific engagement initiatives to bring best in class science, data related health insights and education to consumers, healthcare professionals, health advocacy organizations, academic partners, influencers, and other relevant stakeholders within the personal healthcare ecosystem in support of the Skin Health therapeutic area.
The primary objective is to enhance the organization's scientific reputation, promote scientific exchange, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and innovation; as such being able to better serve the personal health care needs of consumers, patients, and caregivers. This leader will be the point person to ensure aligned global and regional orchestration of how the pipeline of science assets created within the cross-functional R&D teams are integrated into the total science activation plans through the product innovation lifecycle in market.
The Director of Global Scientific Engagement – Skin Health will oversee a small team that will work with translational science partners, regional medical affairs & scientific engagement colleagues in concert with regional and global commercial partners to deliver aligned OKR ’ s related to Science that Connects, Science that Matters and Science that Creates Impactful Value to all stakeholders we serve.
Key Responsibilities- Stakeholder Engagement-
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including academic researchers, healthcare professionals, scientific societies, patient advocacy groups, and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute scientific exchange programs, advisory boards, symposia, and other scientific events, both in the digital space and in-person.
  • Serve as a scientific resource and represent the organization at conferences, scientific meetings, and other relevant forums.
Strategy development-
  • Shape the Strategic Science Activation Plan for key priorities in concert with the relevant R&D and commercial partners, aligned with the organization's overall objectives and scientific priorities
  • Identify key stakeholders as well as medical and scientific opinion leaders in key markets to engage with and establish/maintain collaborative partnerships.
  • Stay abreast of scientific advancements, industry trends, and competitor activities to inform strategic decision-making.
Thought Leadership-
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence within the organization by providing scientific leadership, guidance, and mentorship to internal teams.
  • Stay informed about emerging scientific research, breakthroughs, and publications relevant to the organization's areas of interest.
  • Contribute to the development of scientific publications, white papers, and other knowledge-sharing materials.
Cross-functional collaboration-
  • Collaborate closely with Global cross-functional Franchise R&D (translational Science)/Commercial and Regulatory teams to shape Science Activation Programs supporting Innovation, Claims, Consumer Education, Digital Science Asset creation, Strategic Publication Planning, Science Communication Plans, to ensure scientific engagement initiatives are aligned with overall organizational goals.
  • Partner with regional R&D cross-functional teams (medical affairs, scientific engagement, product development) and regional commercial brand teams to enable activation of science that will maximize value creation and capture.
Team leadership and Management-
  • Lead and manage a small team of scientific engagement professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages scientific curiosity, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Allocate resources effectively, set clear objectives, and monitor progress towards goals.
Other duties-
  • A key success factor in the role will be for this leader to bring strong technical excellence, program leadership competencies, influencing without authority, matrix leadership competency, collaborating to co-create the new along with a strong business ownership, innovation & entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Initiate and deliver Science that Connects, Science that matters and Science that Differentiates Products and solutions we offer for better outcomes and health experiences for the Skin Health therapeutic area.
  • Contribute to the End of End Science Activation Program with a Platform, multi-year impact approach to augment value realization of product, health solutions and business model (channel) innovations launched for the Skin Health therapeutic area.
  • Serve as one of the scientific voices of the company, science and health literacy education and industry thought leaders in the area of Skin Health product and health solutions offered.
Required qualifications-
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline (BS, MA, PhD, PharmD, etc)
  • A minimum of 8 years in scientific engagement, medical affairs, HCP education or related roles within CPG, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry. OTC experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in the Consumer Healthcare environment is desired. Experience in skin health and/or dermatology is also a plus.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and executing scientific engagement strategies and initiatives.
  • Understanding on how to build a network of experts and manage relationships with key opinion leaders and scientific communities.
  • Strong understanding of scientific research methodologies, clinical trial design, and regulatory requirements in the US and additional key markets.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex scientific information to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically, analyze data, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders simultaneously. Ability to work effectively in matrixed organization.
  • Strong business partnership skills, learning agility, drive and enthusiasm for innovation
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the business context and work closely with commercial business partners in the development of scientific and professional engagement strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to work within agile processes and business frameworks
Desired qualifications-
  • Strong experience developing scientific engagement strategies and executing educational and communications initiatives to drive meaningful outcomes.
  • Experience in Skin Health therapeutic areas such as Pain, Allergy, Digestive Health, and/or Smoking Cessation.
  • Experience shaping new areas and capability builds to shape future opportunities for the business will be a plus
  • Experience in the conduct and/or critical scientific interpretation of clinical research will be a plus
