Faculty Position

Job Summary

The faculty member is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of teaching activities in the classroom clinical, laboratory, or online setting. At the minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, academic advising, shared governance, serving on various committees, participating in local, state, regional and national professional activities and organization. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties the day, evening, or weekend as assigned. A faculty member performs all other duties as directed by their Chair, Dean of Nursing or the President or designee.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Designs and facilitates learning experiences supporting department and college outcomes.
  • Meets professional obligations, such as office hours, committee appointments, and deadlines.
  • Anticipates change, adapts smoothly to change, and when appropriate, effects change.
  • Is a strong contributor to all appropriate teams, exhibiting Christian collegiality in team relationships.
  • Supports Higher Learning Commission projects for continuous quality improvement.
  • Routinely evaluates own learning needs and exhibits continuously improving outcomes.
  • Is a role model for professional behavior that supports our institutional values (Trustworthy, Innovative, Caring, Competent, and Collaborative).
  • Participates regularly in appropriate meetings and faculty development activities, including those sponsored by the College, Kettering Health, and professional organizations.
  • Uses college resources efficiently.
  • Exhibits a positive response to constructive criticism from leadership.
  • Knows and adheres to college policies and procedures.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College in all professional relationships.
  • Completes all mandatory education and/or clinical competencies.
  • Holds current, unencumbered and unrestricted Ohio RN license.
  • Completes annual basic safety education and corporate integrity education on time.
  • Designs workflow to facilitate service to students.
  • Communicates skillfully and sensitively with others from cultural backgrounds different from one’s own.
  • Professionally helps students even when their anger, distress, or other conditions make learning difficult.
  • Stays professionally current.
  • Is knowledgeable of curriculum processes and effectively uses evidenced-based teaching approaches.
  • Plans students’ clinical experiences and evaluates students’ performance in alignment with expected curriculum outcomes.
  • Communicates clinical outcomes to student, preceptor, and staff at clinical site.
  • Provides for appropriate supervision of students in the clinical setting, in accordance with Ohio Board of Nursing regulations.
  • Participates in the utilization of and or research projects to advance nursing education and practice.
  • Works collaboratively with preceptors in the education of students in clinical settings.
