Child Psychiatrist / Medical Director – PART-TIME | Waltham, MA

Job Type

Part-Time / hourly 

Qualifications:

  • Holds a medical license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. 
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Three to five years direct practice with juvenile/young adult population preferred.

Summary: 

The Child Psychiatrist is a part-time (6 -8 hrs/week), hourly, professional employee who as the Medical Director of Children’s Charter Trauma Clinic oversees and supervises psychiatry services at Children’s Charter. The Child Psychiatrist delivers quality psychiatric evaluations and psychopharmacological treatment for children. Clients can be seen either at the Clinic or via Telehealth. The Child Psychiatrist is responsible for prescribing or supervising the prescription of all medications. The Medical Director sets standards informing all medical policies, protocols and practices in the clinic and works closely with the Director to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to Children’s Charter’s clients. The Medical Director provides supervision to one part-time adult staff psychiatrist. 

Rate: $225/hr.

* In addition, we are offering a $10,000 Hiring Bonus ($5,000 at the successful completion of 3 months orientation and $5,000 at the completion of 6 months)

Essential Job Functions:

  • Clinical skills; knowledge of psychiatric disorders of childhood and adolescence.
  • Ability to effectively establish therapeutic rapport and work with resistant clients and caregivers as well as provide psychiatric support to children in the care of state agencies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; forms professional relationships with multi-cultural clients and caregivers.
  • Regular attendance; scheduling flexibility.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills: client assessments.

Responsibilities:

The following list of responsibilities is not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet clinic or regional needs.

Clinical Services

  • Performs psychopharmacological evaluations of clients for medication services.
  • Provides consultation to clinicians regarding diagnostic impressions and psychopharmacological recommendations.
  • Prepares and maintains clinical case records and all required documentation according to clinic guidelines.
  • Ensures Agency Confidentiality and Professional Code of Ethics policies are followed.

Administrative

  • Maintains all billing and client documentation as required by Key, Medicaid, insurances, etc. including prior authorizations when needed.
  • Completes weekly time sheets as required by Children’s Charter.
  • Completes and submits weekly schedule to Billing and Administrative Assistant.
  • Supervision of one non-board certified adult psychiatrist as needed.

Other Performance Factors

  • Adheres to work schedule and maintains a high quality of work.
  • Adheres to state and federal licensing requirements and maintains appropriate CEU’s for licensing.
  • Facilitates amicable and professional relations with supervisees, colleagues, clients, and families
