POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Field Materials Coordinator (HVAC) plays a key role in the successful execution of commercial DDC controls projects in our various locations. Reporting to the Controls Design Manager, this individual will assist our control technical leaders in the delivery of projects. Tasks will be assigned by the Control group technical leaders. The Field Materials Coordinator (HVAC) will manage their time and be accountable for seeing the assigned tasks through to successful completion by the required deadline.
Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Assist in the project management process including developing a project plan. Support projects by taking on the coordination of the logistics portion of projects in the direction of the technical leads.
- Support the technical leads by requesting and securing resources and keeping the project on track for on time delivery.
- When necessary, participate in construction meetings to assist technical lead with coordination of materials or other trades.
- Place orders and arrange for material delivery by freight. Coordinate delivery and report back to technical lead that task is underway.
- Track progress of delivery and take action to respond to questions or deviations that may arise.
- Drive between KFI office, vendor supply locations, and jobsites to make material deliveries, attend meetings, or perform other site tasks. Drive to deliver materials when a quick response is necessary, or it is the best practical solution. Otherwise, arrange for material delivery by freight is often preferred.
- Assist technical leads in the field with verification of control systems testing, hardware point-to-point checkout.
- Assist controls design manager and entire controls group by participating in weekly scheduling meetings. Provide input on how projects are staffed and run.
- Take on other tasks as needed to support the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Minimum High School diploma, post-secondary education is a plus.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- OSHA 10 certificate required, and if not currently in possession must be willing to complete within 30 days of hire.
- Must have a reliable vehicle.
- Strong organizational and calendaring skills.
- Customer service orientation to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction (internal and external) for services provided.
- Ability to interact effectively with other staff and represent the company in a professional manner.
- Proficient in use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Self-directed, able to manage workload with little to no oversight.
- Ability to regularly lift objects weighing up to 75 lbs during the work shift.
Preferred:
- Aptitude for engineering and/or electronics.
- Experience working in the construction industry or interacting with contractors.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position Monday to Friday, with core hours between 7 AM and 3:30 PM. Some work locations will feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving materials/equipment.
- Much of our work is located within two hundred miles of the St. Paul, MN area. However, some projects may occur further away. Travel is not anticipated with this position, as most tasks can be done using remote communication or freight companies. In the rare event travel may be beneficial, it is preferred candidate would be amenable to travel.
