RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Leawood, KS that is looking for a Network Engineer for a six-month contract opportunity.
Summary:
The Network Engineer will operationally support voice and/or data communication solutions supporting core organizational functions and assure their high availability. This individual will support business units and technical support staff for all data and voice network systems. The primary focus is day to day operational uptime of the client's Network Services.
Essential Functions: End Result Time %:
* Operational Support: Perform day to day operational support and monitoring for local area and wide area network components; Provide 3rd level technical support; Research and resolve trouble tickets, documenting root cause and problem resolution; Ensure optimal network and infrastructure performance and availability: 70%
* Project Work: Support business initiatives; Provide some design work; Performs configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls per standards without direct supervision; Configures network devices within company standards while implementing business initiatives; Manage installation of equipment at remote locations, coordinating and directing on-site associates and contract personnel: 10%
* Network Monitoring: Perform general network monitoring ensuring network health and report periodic performance metrics and identify trouble spots within the infrastructure for remediation; Proactively monitor general network performance to report and troubleshoot observed issues prior to them impacting infrastructure performance and availability: 20%
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline with an information technology focus or equivalent work experience
* No previous experience required unless educational requirements are not met, then 1 years of direct Information Technology experience
* Knowledge of configuration and management of Cisco and Fortinet network equipment
* Knowledge of voice and networking protocols and technologies
* Knowledge of physical cabling standards and troubleshooting
* Ability to troubleshoot and apply standard troubleshooting practices to narrow focus and address root cause issues remotely
* Ability to document environments, activities, and communicate effectively
* Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
* Ability to work well with others in a professional manner
* High degree of focus on customer service skills
Preferred Requirements:
* Network

* CCNA or higher
* Fortinet NSE4 or higher
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
