Job Details

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client, a Detroit MI-based automotive manufacturer who brings engineering, technology, and design together to create innovative vehicles, energy solutions, and in-vehicle services is seeking a Plastics Design Engineer 4.
Summary:
The Plastics Design Engineer 4 will be responsible for development of math design solutions to meet complex system and subsystem requirements. This activity is dependent upon a high degree of creativity and initiative in problem solving and leading cross functional teams for issue resolution.
Duties Include:
* Exercises highly independent judgment and creative solution development with minimal direction from the Design Leader Technical
* Mentor for system/subsystem requirement, and Company CAD and Data Management System for their Bumper/Fascia/Grille (BFG) area
* Develops, refines, and finalizes Criteria and Typical Sections
* Owner of Standard Modeling Methods for their SMT area
* Demonstrated application of design operations and processes (Standard modeling, Clearance Analysis, etc.)
* Applies manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and integration knowledge to parts and subsystem designs
* Facilitates and participates in Design Reviews, both scheduled and informal workstation reviews, as required
* Document and maintains material, mass, and other part specifications within the Math file
* Supports CAE with studies to improve designs
* Completes, analyzes, and applies NX Analysis results to solution set for their subsystem/components
REQUIREMENTS:
* 4-year technical degree required; Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technology, Product Design or 2 year Associate degree in Product Design with 8 plus years of related experience or in a 2 year or 4 year Associate/Bachelor's degree Program leading to the degrees noted above
* 8 plus years or demonstrated proficiency with successful product design results
* The candidate will be an expert in Plastic Part Design and Engineering Best Practices, and highly skilled in CAD and Data Management System, Windows Suite, and VisMockup
* Expert skill set in math release process, specifications, and data management
* Expert Plastic Part Designer
* Expert in CAD Tools and owns the development of Standard Model Methods in their component/subsystem area
* Experienced with multiple cycles of the Vehicle Development Process and the math fidelity of each cycle
* Proficient in and able to teach Design Standards and Best Practices
* Very knowledgeable of and experienced with multiple cycles of the Global Vehicle Development Process and the math fidelity for each cycle
* Excellent knowledge of the Vehicle Development Process
* Working knowledge of CAE and eGD&T
* Expert knowledge of manufacturing process and their impact on product design concepts
* Very knowledgeable of manufacturing processes of supported SMT
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and VisMockup
* Demonstrated ability to work independently to solve highly complex problems and lead teams to consensus when needed
* High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
* Proficient understanding of Specification and Release terms and systems
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* High level of interpersonal skill to work effectively with others including global partners
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
